LGBT+ charity, Club F.O.D, are pleased to announce our 4 week countdown to Torfaen Pride which takes place at Pontypool Park on 1st June 2024.
Torfaen Pride is free to enter family friendly event that celebrates Diversity in Torfaen.
Jamie Wake, charity CEO, said that “..For the LGBT+ community, Pride is a celebration of identity, diversity, and inclusion and for a significant number of the LGBT+ community, an individual’s first pride literally can change their life: it’s empowering and exhilarating to discover that there are people just like you..”
The event was officially announced in July 2023 following a motion presented by Cllr Giles Davies to Torfaen Council to acknowledge the LGBT+ community in the borough of Torfaen as well as to acknowledge support by the local authority for a pride event in Torfaen. The motion was passed unanimously.
The event will consist of main stage, market stalls, community stalls, food and drink stalls and a fun fair. A parade route is currently being considered.
There is still space available for traders and community groups to part of Torfaen’s first pride and enquiries can be made via marketplace@torfaenpride.co.uk.
The event kicks off pride month in Wales which runs throughout June and for Club F.O.D its also a double celebration as the weekend also marks their 5th birthday.
Performers currently announced include Drag Performers such as Lady M, Tammy Paxton, as well as vocalists such as Kyle Finn and Petra Evans and a performance by the Rock Choir. More acts are being announced over the next week.
Pride weekend will also feature Drag Bingo on Friday 31st May at the New Inn, Abersychan with details of pride parties to be announced.
